a painters JOURNEY
My Foundation degree is where my journey with landscape painting began, taking in sights of the Northeast & enjoying creating characterful & colourful scenes.
This expanded on my BA, drawing from my Lincolnshire surroundings, looking at the manmade in the natural landscape & through plein air painting, allowed a closer observation of colour, mark making & composition.
The MA allowed me to observe London landscape scenes, but challenged me further in the studio, exploring a freer & more organic technique with oil painting & connecting with the paint as a material & science & less scripted.

Nature
Nature plays an interwoven role within my daily life. Whether it be enjoying walks in the countryside, appreciating the wildlife & scenery or translating this experience through painting. I enjoy taking inspiration from these creatures to create pieces with personality.
